Easy side shaping creates a better fitting sweater with this fresh design in DK wool. Wear under a jacket or cardigan to layer. Experiment in acrylic or cotton for a quick summer top. Crocheted in wool with elbow length sleeves, it is warm enough to keep you comfortable on a chilly day.

Stripes & Stripes is designed to look great either with a low or high contrast between stripes. Side shaping offsets optical width of horizontal stripes. However — Stripes are optional!!

As with all my designs, you can crochet this sweater to fit YOU! Using an initial measurement, you can crochet most of the pattern without arbitrary stitch counts. In fact, I don’t state numbers of stitches – you will need the number of stitches which best suits your body and your design. Use the number of stitches that you need to make your sweater fit you perfectly around the hips.

Are you petite? Are you a tall woman? As you crochet toward the top of the back and front fabrics, you decide how long the sweater should be.

Sleeves are also made to measure to fit your arms – comfortably and easily. Sleeves are crocheted right into the fabric, then the shoulders and sides are sewn together all at once. This is a fun make, and an easy to crochet one. The stripes give interest, and contribute to the ease of measuring back to front as you crochet your sweater fabric. Stripes are visibly offset by side shaping. The stripes are optional, though, so make it solid or in Stripes & Stripes!
