Description
Harking back to post war America, the peplum is symbolic of fashion’s daring to slip its toe into the 2 piece outfit – the ‘suit’ for women. I personally love the peplum and have enjoyed designing this crocheted sweater with a peplum.
For those of you who may not know, a peplum is a ‘skirt’ at the bottom of a sweater or jacket which flares just a little, and covers the top of the hip with a drapey piece. This adds such a pretty design element to an otherwise plain top. You can actually add a peplum to a sleeveless sweater to tack on a design element that will add so much to a plain pullover – or even add a peplum to a cardigan – how cute that would be!
You will need between 1000 and 1500 yards for this sweater. Size 4 weight yarn. Other weights will require more or less depending on the size of the yarn.
Enjoy!
