Description
Introducing my newest design — Woodland Tweed — an easy, fast, crocheted summer sweater! As with all my sweater patterns, you determine your own ease and size. Optional cap or short sleeves make Woodland Tweed a cool choice for spring and summer wear. Pair it with a scoop neck, and a mildly boxy type fit, and you have a combination of great features for a quick summer sweater project.
The starring yarn is Tweedy from Stylecraft, a beautiful DK weight yarn made from 26% cotton and 74% Premium Acrylic – soft as can be, and easy to crochet. I selected a 7.0 mm hook as my fabric hook choice, to give the sweater a loose drape, but choose a tighter stitch or a larger hook to crochet your design with as much open weave as you decide. I designed mine as a single wear (no tank top required under this one!).
The yarn requirement for this sweater (in my measurements) was 2 ½ skeins (a bit over 700 yards) of Tweedy – a bargain! The colorway in the photos is Bracken. There are other colorways available in this yarn, but you can use any DK or even any size yarn — it will not affect your gauge, because there is no gauge! You can select the yarn you want, the hook size you want and this sweater will fit you perfectly. We start with the On The Hook Measurement Formula, which will allow you to crochet your unique size, every time.
Enjoy designing your own Woodland Tweed or make it just as I did. One of my easiest patterns to crochet, a beginner or adventurous beginner can be successful with this pattern. As always, this pattern is written in conversational style, with lots of direction and some optional features.
Happy crocheting your Woodland Tweed!
