Description
I have had many requests to design a crocheted ‘boxy’ sweater – something easy to crochet, and easy to wear. I originally wanted to call this my Sunday Sweater to throw on while enjoying a Sunday afternoon snuggled up in front of a fire. In retrospect, I’m thinking that in the spring or even the summer, this boxy style will lend itself to easy weekend evenings, crocheted from a lightweight yarn. I will plan to make one in a lighter version to show on my YouTube channel, OnTheHookCrochet and will install some photos of additional Essential Sweaters on this listing to show an alternative way to wear this comfy garment.
Seems the ‘boxy’ look is popular among knitters, so this is my contribution to the crochet makers out there who want a very casual sweater to knock around in on the weekends.
I have designed this sweater to be a very doable project for beginner crocheters. The yarn makes all the difference and will ‘speak’ volumes even when crocheted into a very simple but trendy design. A 4 weight yarn would be fine, but I think a 3 weight yarn would have the best drape. Using the smaller yarn would, of course, increase the time you spend crocheting. You could increase the size of your fabric hook to make the fabric even more drapey. The possibilities are endless!
Basic stitches and easy decreases make this a quick creation for your wardrobe Also, using the yarn of your choice in the size of your choice, and the hook size of your choice as well, will make this design yours and yours alone.
My patterns are designed for all sizes, ladies, so never fear – I do not size my patterns. They are a detailed outline, using your measurements and choices for length of garment, sleeve length, neckline opening size and general drape of the crocheted fabric.
I know you will be pleased to make your own Essential Sweater!
Happy Crocheting!
