Description
Here’s a beautiful summer sweater crocheted with DOTTIE yarn by Premier. Just released on the market (6/1/22), I had to try it. This Dorothy Sweater emerged from the yarn with ease…The yarn is so soft and the perfect DK weight for summer. I chose Garden Party colorway as my first go-round, but plan to use this yarn again.
The Dottie yarn’s ‘Color Shifting Dot Print’ description looked totally different from the knit pattern shown on the label. I love the way it crocheted, but it looks nothing like the knit swatch. The colors change gracefully from one to the next and on the white background, ‘shift’ into each other seamlessly. I am so glad I chose this particular yarn for my design.
I named this design for my mom who taught me to crochet, and for this awesome yarn (Dottie is short for Dorothy…). A perfect match and a design I wanted to share.
Designed with beginning crocheters in mind, the sleeves are fitted and crocheted right into the front and back fabric. Longer than cap sleeves, and shorter than the elbow length ‘short sleeves’ we see in women’s clothing offerings nowadays. The Dorothy sleeve will cover about ½ of your arm, making this pattern a good one for warm days.
I also designed it in a crop length which is not for everybody – so this feature is adjustable and the decision on length of the Dorothy is made at any time before beginning the sleeves. Sleeves can be lengthened, too, of course.
A beautiful, easy crocheted top for summer!
Happy Crocheting!
