Description
Enjoy those first cool days of fall in your own design of a cozy, cross season sweater. Easy and quick to crochet, Fall Into Autumn sports a modified square neckline, and ridged contrasting bands at the sleeve edges and around the hem. The fit of this sweater is up to you!
Design your sweater using the amount of ease you desire – I used about 2 inches of ease on back and 2 inches on front, so that the sweater will fall straight from the underarm to the hip.
Sleeves are crocheted into the fabric without using seams, which allows for a quick crocheted garment.
Let’s talk about this design…
The tweed look is so appropriate to fall fashion – for this design, I purchased Lion Brand Mandala Tweed in the ‘Lucky Penny’ colorway. My Fall Into Autumn sweater required about 600 yards of Mandala yarn, which is a #4 weight 100% acrylic. You will need more or less, of course, depending on the size you make, the length of your sweater, and your hook size.
I used a J (6.00mm) hook for both the fabric and the contrast bands and neckline. This particular tweed is heavy on dark purple with shades of blue, gold, yellow and olive green. These are perfect colors to wear into fall.
Fall into Autumn has bell shaped below-elbow sleeves which provide airflow and the double crochet fabric is breathable as well. You could easily choose a sport weight yarn (#3 weight) and the hook of your choice (using “I” hook (5.5mm) would be my choice). Fall Into Autumn is designed to be created in your style, your choice of yarn, hook size, and measurements. These choices make the garment yours, and will fit you right now. I do not size my patterns – they are an outline to design your special garment.
